Detroiter Marie Mason is an anarchist earth and animal liberation prisoner serving a 22-year federal prison sentence for 13 counts of property destruction. No one was injured in any of the actions which included targets such as a GMO research lab, logging equipment, and an environmentally destructive housing development. Marie continues a prolific output of paintings, poems, and songs, even while enduring unreasonable and repressive confinement. The paintings here represent work mostly from the last two years. Information about involvement and support is at link above.

Join us for an informal launch of the latest Fifth Estate and pick up the new issue. It’s theme is Mad! in all of its manifestations from crazy to wild, from Mad magazine to Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), from surrealism to psychiatric oppression of anarchist youth. Subscriptions will be available with a portion of the cost going to support imprisoned Marie Mason. October 25 is also the date of the International Kick Off to Move Marie Mason Campaign, the world-wide effort to bring pressure on the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to transfer Marie out of the worst prison in the women’s federal penal system. At the Fifth Estate launch we will have available pre-addressed postcards and postage addressed to the Bureau of Prisons asking for Marie’s transfer, Free Marie t-shirts, and copies of her CD, “Not for Profit.” Move Marie events are occurring all over the world on Oct. 25; see the Events page for one near you. See Marie’s support page at www.SupportMarieMason.org for organizing events and other activities. Stop by the Café, join us for a drink or dinner, pick up a new Fifth Estate, and sign a postcard for Marie.
