he Voters Not Politicians ballot committee and grassroots organization Count MI Vote are co-hosting Redistricting Reform Town Halls across Michigan, and we're holding one in Troy! This is an opportunity for voters to learn about gerrymandering and discuss policy options. It will start with a fun and engaging introduction to the facts, then move into a discussion to hear from you and your neighbors. Like any good town hall, your ideas and concerns will be heard, your questions answered, and your input used to draft a petition that reflects the will of Michigan voters. Admission is free, and all Michiganders are welcome (including young ones)! However, space is limited, so please reserve your spot by selecting "Going". **PLEASE NOTE: Response to this event has been amazing! We expect to reach capacity quickly, and seating is first-come first-served, so please arrive early in order to ensure you get a seat. We are working around the clock to schedule additional events for the Detroit metro, in order to provide you with more opportunities to attend. Stay tuned!** For more information about the Voters Not Politicians ballot committee, please go to http://votersnotpoliticians.com/ For more information about Count MI Vote, please go to http://countmivote.org/

Coal-fired power plants are damaging the health and wealth of communities across Michigan. Michigan’s DTE Energy is one of the most coal-dependent utilities in the country, and we’re paying for it with our health and our pocketbooks. Coal-fired power plants emit soot that leads to higher rates of cancer and asthma, and DTE’s reliance on outdated, dirty coal is making customers right here in Troy pay ever-increasing electric bills. It’s time for DTE to stop making us pay to pollute our own air and water. We all have the right to breathable air and affordable energy. That’s why we are asking DTE Energy to invest in renewable energy like wind and solar to transition away from dirty, expensive coal. Troy is in the heart of DTE’s biggest service area and home to key members of DTE’s Board, the ultimate decision makers on a transition plan. DTE needs to hear that residents in Oakland County, their customers and neighbors, want clean energy right here, right now. Come to the Sierra Club’s campaign kick off meeting to learn how you can help! To learn more about how you can get involved before the meeting, please contact Sandy Carter at sandy@greencorps.org
