We are asking progressives from all congressional districts, partisan or otherwise, to join us for a two-part action: -- Protest outside the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee (MDSCC) meeting from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Signs provided.; and/or -- Attend the MDSCC meeting from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 (or slightly longer) to add a progressive presence in an otherwise largely Establishment membership that sometimes moves too slowly and doesn't push some of the changes we need. See link above for more details.

We'll greet people at 5:45 pm with our budget-related and other signs promoting progressive values as they arrive for the 9th District Democratic Party meeting at 6:00 pm. We'll go into the meeting to hear directly from Rep. Sander Levin on hot topics . . . presumably including tax reform and the budget (hopefully the Pentagon budget, too). Typically, he takes questions and there is the chance to talk with his and other staff persons at the end of the meeting. NOTE: If you're going to the meeting, RSVP to

Time of event is 9:45PM - 12.00PM We are asking all progressives, partisan or otherwise, to join us at the 9th District Democratic Party meeting on 06/17 at the Plumber's Local 98 in Madison Heights. We will be focusing on Sander Levin's silence on defense spending and his lack of support for Medicare for All via HR 676. We are planning this event in coordination with a DAPJN rally concerning Levin's silence on military spending increases: Levin's historical support for our outrageously bloated defense budget is not uncommon among establishment democrats. Allowing republicans control over the framing of the issue of military spending has been wildly detrimental to the Democratic Party. If democrats are silent about major issues it enables ultraconservatives to control the discussion; you can't appeal to moderates with silence, and you sure as hell can't appeal to leftists by effectively promoting the expansion of the military industrial complex. CD9 is a safe district for democrats, so why on earth doesn't Sandy take a reasonable stance on Military spending? Levin's refusal to support HR676 is similarly harmful. Without a vision for the future the democratic party is impotent. Medicare for All is a moral and fiscal imperative, and happens to be one of the most popular policy proposals in the country. How on earth can leftists expect to fight the AHCA without a plan of their own? The ACA is undoubtedly an improvement on our wretched past, but the status quo is unpopular, and it is killing our people in the name of corporate insurance profiteers. Single Payer is inevitable, so why should a Democrat in a safe district be silent on this critical issue? Causes Free Admission

Monthly meeting of the Women's March - Southeast Michigan. Please note the different time and date for May. There was conflicts due to Mother's Day, Memorial Day and functions on May 21. We are getting together to re-energize after the first 100 days. Many of you have expressed being fatigued and defeated. I hope this meeting will inject some new activism in you. We will have new plans of action based on what is critical in congress. Gretchen Whitmer who is running for governor has expressed interest in attending and speaking with us.
Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:30-11am
Come protest Trump's proposed increases for the Pentagon and his proposed cuts for almost everything else. See details and RSVP at link above We'll protest Trump's proposed $54 billion increase in Pentagon spending and his proposed $54 billion in proposed cuts to almost everything else -- whether it's Meals on Wheels, Low Income Home Energy Assistance, Diplomacy, National Institutes for Health research grants, the EPA, Big Bird, etc. The cuts are being made to pay for Trump's pentagon increases. Why protest in front of the Dem's? Our Congresspersons, who are not comfortable with many domestic spending cuts, still don't raise the issue of pentagon spending gone wild. AT 10:05 a.m. we'll go into the meeting and, if pentagon spending is not raised, we will!
Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 7-9pm
