@Water Street Trail
Ypsilanti was founded near the site of a former Potawatomi village at the crossroads of several long-used trails in an area of rich activity. Join local historian Matt Siegfried for a fall walk along the Huron River as we explore the Native American landscape and history of the region, from the Pontiac’s Rebellion and Tecumseh in the War of 1812 to early Indian farming and village life. We'll explore how the local land was used and and how that changed after European settlement. Meet at the head of the Water Street Trail at the parking lot on the south side of Michigan Avenue, just east of the bridge. Free and open to the public. About one hour.
