Jamon Jordan, historian and educator, will lead a lecture & tour of Black historical sites important to the abolitionist movement and the Underground Railroad in Detroit on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. This tour is designed to interested parties from ages 10-adult. To register: Please leave DETAILED message at 313-983-9216. Include how many people in your group and the age range. At 12 noon, we will meet at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument at Campus Martius (Woodward & Michigan Ave). We will depart promptly at 12:10. Cost: Adults (13 and older) - $5; Students (9-12) - $3. Children 8 and under are free. This fee pays for the lecture and tour guide. It does not cover the People Mover or any snacks or drinks. We will be using the People Mover for one site. Please bring an additional 0.75¢. This is primarily a walking tour of approximately 1.5 miles, so please wear comfortable shoes. Please be aware that it may be hot during the tour, so be prepared for summer weather. Understand that Black people escaping from slavery had to deal with the weather too.
