May Lunch and Learn Lunch Provided! This month we continue our DIA series by learning more about one of the museum's masterpieces: Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry Murals. In honor of International Workers' Day, or May Day, we will be wrestling with the themes of labor in the murals as they relate to our city and region. A museum docent will come right to our door and will show us slides of the work. We'll learn about the murals' historical context and the artistic principles they embody. A Lunch and Learn that's not to be missed! In addition, the DIA curator who is putting together next year's Diego and Frida exhibit will be attending and is interested in hearing how contemporary labor activists react to Rivera's work. So we're hoping for a big labor turn-out and a robust Q&A session/discussion following the presentation.
