The Detroit Chapter of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) invites you to learn more about efforts to "Ban the Bomb" at the United Nations. We're meeting for a rally from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 17 at the corner of Russell and Wilkins Streets in Eastern Market in Detroit. We will hand out flyers, drum, and talk about the efforts at the United Nations to sign a treaty that would ban Nuclear Weapons. Governments from around the world will negotiate a nuclear weapons ban at the UN in June and July 2017. The Women’s March Ban the Bomb is a women-led initiative building on the momentum of movements at the forefront of the resistance, including the Women’s March on Washington. It will bring together people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, races, abilities, nationalities, cultures, faiths, political affiliations and backgrounds. For more information, visit the WILPF event web site, http://wilpf.org/?post_type=wilpf_events&p=22246 and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, http://www.icanw.org/.
