We Are Michigan is calling attention to the lame duck legislature's attempt to hurt working families. #FixOurRoads #DontPaveOverOurFuture Everyone welcome in solidarity. Event will be on the Cass Ave side. $10 visitor parking available at WSU structure 6 (on Putnam) & structure 1 (on Palmer). Michiganders need safe roads but not at the expense of increased cuts to local government services such as police and fire protection, sanitation, and public transportation. Our roads and bridges have been neglected far too long. It’s time for lawmakers to act. FACT: Michigan ranks the lowest in per capita spending on transportation infrastructure out of all 50 states. FACT: Driving on roads in need of repair costs Michigan motorists $2.534 billion a year in extra vehicle repairs and operating costs - $357 per motorist. FACT: Repairing our roads would create thousands of jobs. http://www.facebook.com/events/764007103664307/

Our chance to tell Director Mel Watt how foreclosures by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have devastated our neighborhoods. Watt is promoting a very limited "Detroit Initiative" against foreclosures by Fannie and Freddie, the failed mortgage companies taken over by the feds. We need real change to save families from foreclosure and eviction! Come Thursday, Oct. 2, to the Town Hall forum Gather at 10:15 am at the Cass Ave. entrance of the Detroit Public Library, Main Branch, just north of Warren Ave. Join us to rally outside and demand answers from Mel Watt during the Town Hall. You need to sign up beforehand if you want to go inside. Google "eventbrite mel watt Detroit" For more info and updates: detroitevictiondefense.org http://www.facebook.com/events/1715557628669640/
