ASOTRECOL Solidarity Network is holding a rally on Sun. Sept. 7 for injured Colombian autoworkers to coincide with a speech by GM CEO Mary Barra at the "Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress" at Cobo Center. The former auto workers association, ASOTRECOL, is demanding GM address unsafe working conditions and illegal hiring practices at Colombian factories and an equitable settlement for auto workers illegally fired after suffering disabling spinal and other injuries on the line. Members of the group have engaged in hunger strikes, tied their mouths shut and buried themselves up to their necks to protest their treatment.
