It's time for Michigan progressives to come together and unite as a common force for justice in our state and communities - come be part of the conversation to make that happen! This will be an opportunity for progressive activists to come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing us in the new year, as well as ways in which we can partner together to become more effective as a force for justice in our communities and state. Now, more than ever, it is essential that we work together to speak with a common voice and act with common purpose, and that progressives have a forum to meet in which such coordination can be discussed.

What: First organizer summit for Detroit 4 Justice Where: WSU Student Center, Room 384 Who: Detroit organizers, movement builders and activists We'll be meeting to start work on building a city-wide coalition off of, and connected to, the Kalamazoo 4 Justice organization. We will also move into the outreach and planning phase for the State Violence rally hosted by D4J and the broad base coalition we will build. The rally will be the kicking off event for Detroit 4 Justice. We would like to bring as many groups, organizations and individuals into the fold, and begin working on larger stategies together, to build as one, and leverage our efforts in the varied camapaigns that everyone is involved in. Topics of interest: State violence War/refugess Police brutality Structural racisms Environmental violence Economic violence Gentrification Islamophobia Sexuality-based violence Gender-based vilolence Capitalism Imperialism Please bring some of what you're currently working on, and three tangible goals that you would like to see accomplished in the short term, and one in the long term. This way we can build this rally into a cross movement base, which is capable of making concrete demands that cut across all the struggles being fought.
