We are gathering to ask consumers to withhold their hard earned wages from buying Driscolls strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. We' also urge you to call store managers at Whole Foods, Costco and other vendors of Driscoll’s and Nestlé [Häagen-Dazs & Yoplait Berry flavored Dairy Products] Since Driscoll holds a near monopoly of the Strawberry markets under various subsidiaries and are sold under different brands as well, we are asking in Solidarity that we buy absolutely no Strawberries until Sakuma Bros (the grower of Dricoll's products - negotiates with Farm workers and their recognized bargaining agent, Familias Unidas por la Justicia. https://www.facebook.com/FamiliasUnidas We are asking that all who wish to attend, come and walk with us as we leaflet customers and urge them not to buy Driscoll's. Stores are accountable to community members and customers: Farmworkers are some of the most underpaid and hardest working and yet are exempt from the most basic legal protections, including child labor law. Women have been preyed upon by bosses. They work and live in terrible and unsafe conditions. Management has retaliated against workers for simply asking for better conditions, breaks and a highter piece rate pay, by splitting up family housing based on gender, creating a hostile work environment. Sakuma has broken agreements with workers and stopped negotiating completely. Please don't buy Driscoll's until they negotiate with workers!
