The LP (Lafayette Park) - Indivisible organization is holding a MI House District 6 candidate forum in downtown Detroit on Wednesday, June 6 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. District 6 is one of the most diverse districts in the state as it encompasses Detroit’s near east side, downtown Detroit (up to MLK Blvd/Mack Ave), Corktown, southwest Detroit, and the nearby suburbs of River Rouge and Ecorse. The district is currently represented by Stephanie Chang (D) who is term limited. Of the ten Democratic candidates running, LP-Indivisible has selected six candidates that it believes represent progressive and activist values. Those candidates are: Tom Choske, Aghogho Edevbie, Samatha Magdaleno, David Sanchez, Richardo White and Charlesetta Wilson. Candidates will have the opportunity to interact with the audience, as well as answer questions posed by LP-Indivisible moderators. The event will be held at the Swords into Plowshares Gallery located on Grand Circus Park at 33 E. Adams. Limited parking is available in the rear of Central Methodist Church behind the gallery. LP-Indivisible is an independent, progressive, and activist organization founded in 2017 to oppose the policies of the Trump administration, and to hold elected officials accountable to their constituents. Join LP-Indivisible for our meeting with Senator Gary Peters' Detroit Regional Manager. We will raise questions regarding Peters' support for Ajit Pai as chair of FCC (Pai does not support net neutrality); his enthusiasm for defense funding for tank research and weaponized Stryker vehicles; and his silence on supporting Medicare for All. We will thank him for supporting Stabenow in pushing for extending funding for Community Health Clinics and CHIP.
