Detroit MI Friday 4-4-14 @ 12:00 pm. Be There! Yes Friday April 4th, 2014 The Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street allies are holding economic justice vigils in memory of Martin Luther King's 46th year assassination anniversary. For details see: http://RobinHoodTax.org/get-involved For an event flyer see: http://robinhoodtax.org/sites/all/themes/sherwood/pdfs/Community-versions/0314_4-4flyer_COM_Michigan.pdf Vigils at 22 congressional district offices across America to demand that congress pass the Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street - the only real cure to the illness of rampant economic inequality. H.R. 1579, the Inclusive Prosperity Act sponsored by Rep. Keith Ellison, is a tiny .5% and less tax on Wall Street trades. The Robin Hood on Wall Street Tax would raise $350 billion dollars a year to fund: • Create millions of permanent living wage jobs • Rebuild our nation’s infrastructure • Creating a green energy manufacturing boom • Provide quality education for all of our children • Expand mass transit • Guarantee healthcare for all • Serve many other human and environmental needs, and • Provide Americans with retirement and housing security All of that would go a long way toward healing America’s obscene wealth and income inequality while honoring the struggle that Dr. King gave his life for.
