@Rosa Parks Transit Center
Join us at downtown Detroit's Rosa Parks Transit Center from 10:00am - 11:00am tomorrow to share the message of how important transit is with riders, drivers, elected officials, and the media. All transit supporters are invited and encouraged to participate!! Public transit is sorely underfunded at the federal level too. That is why our friends at the Amalgamated Transit Union are holding a nation-wide Day of Action tomorrow. In Detroit, Lansing, and all across the country, transit employee union members will be transit centers talking with riders and urging them to call their members of Congress to demand increased funding. “The underfunding of transit has led to deep service cuts, increased fares and angry riders, who account for an uptick in attacks on our drivers,” said Fred Westbrook, President of ATU Local 26, which represents Detroit bus drivers. “Workers and transit advocates are standing up in Detroit and cities across the U.S. and Canada, not just defending what we have in transit – but fighting to expand it.” Transit supporters are invited and encouraged to join in the effort! Help mobilize riders at transit centers across the region. Call the ATU Local 26 at (313) 873-5541 to find out how you can help.
