The debate over healthcare is ON! With the recent passage of The American Health Care Act (AHCH) by the House and the Act's uncertain fate in the Senate, now is a great time to learn more about the issues and how to influence the outcome. The discussion will be led by Marianne Udow-Phillips, Executive Director of the Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation and a Health Management & Policy Lecturer in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. Hosted by Fems for Change.

(Affordable Care Act Community Outreach) Let's be clear. Repealing Obamacare would be a personal catastrophe for tens of millions of Americans and their families. Yet, Congressman Dave Trott continues to rubber stamp the White House's extreme agenda, even though the majority of the constituents in his district voted against this administration's platform. It is time to educate ourselves and act! Join Organizing for Action and ACA enrollment expert Charles Gaba as we discuss the future of healthcare, share personal stories, and stop this assault. Mr. Gaba is the founder of ACASignups.net, which has been live-tracking Obamacare enrollments since the exchanges launched in October 2013. His work has been cited by major publications from the Washington Post and Forbes to the New York Times as being the most reliable source available for up-to-date, accurate ACA enrollment data in the country.

On 6-4-17, at 2pm, constituents of the 11th Congressional District of Michigan and their allies will congregate at Representative David Trott's office and other representatives to perform a die in, a symbolic form of peaceful protest to illustrate the unnecessary death that will result from the Republican AHCA legislation. This event will run concurrently with numerous other organizations as part of a coordinated nationwide action to let our elected officials in D.C. know, we will not stay silent while Republicans strip 23 million people of their healthcare over the next ten years. We will not passively accept 14 million people losing their healthcare in the next year alone. We will not sit idle while “$992 billion in tax giveaways would go primarily to the wealthy and corporations, including drug manufacturers and health insurance companies.” We aim to impact the fate bill in the senate, or stop it from becoming law, should it return to the house. The program will begin at 2pm, and we will hear firsthand how this bill will devastate people’s lives and their loved ones. From there we will proceed to execute the die in. We ask that the mood be somber to reflect the grave and fatal consequences of this legislation. The event will wrap up at 3pm. This event will be a peaceful expression of the First Amendment and is kid friendly.
