On the anniversary of the Affordable Care Aact (ACA), join Michigan People's Campaign, Fighting #9, Indivisible 11th District, and SEIU Healthcare at a funeral procession march in Detroit. We believe the House of Representatives will vote on their health care bill on 3/23. Let's show our Representatives that we OPPOSE this bill. We OPPOSE cuts to Medicaid. We OPPOSE tax breaks to the 1% on the backs of poor, working families. We want health care that works for all of us. Meet us at 12:15 p.m. at Hart Plaza. The march will go up to Campus Martius and loop back around. We welcome and encourage more partners!" Nearly 1 million people in Michigan have insurance through the Affordable Care Act, according to State of Michigan figures and the Kaiser Family Foundation. You'll have a chance to hear from Congressman Levin and healthcare experts - and to ask questions - about how legislation being considered in Congress to repeal the ACA would affect Michigan. This event is free and open to the public. No ticket is required to attend. RSVP To reserve a seat, please call (586) 498-7122 or email repsanderlevin@mail.house.gov.

Join us for the campaign kickoff event for Mike McDermott, Democrat for State Representative of the 16th District. The event is at DeLuca's Restaurant in Westland, MI (at the corner of Warren and Inkster Rds.) Mike is a Democrat and a Berniecrat who worked as an organizer on the Bernie Sanders campaign here in Michigan. He is also a community activist who is engaged on a number of different causes and concerns including clean water rights, defending public schools, economic justice, expanding the right to vote, guaranteed healthcare for all, progressive income taxation, redistricting reform reform, union rights and collective bargaining and more. There is a suggested donation of $27 to attend the event. Come on out and enjoy pizza, pasta, pop, and politics as we kickoff Mike's State Representative race for 2018.
