This is the third of a three-part speaker series exploring causes and contributors to the growing wealth and income gap in our state and nationally and what can be done to reverse it. Part 1: The Fall and Rise of Income Inequality -- Charles Ballard, Professor of Economics, Michigan State University. Prof. Ballard will discuss the economics and policy behind the growing income inequality in Michigan and nationally. Part 2: Jobs in a Second Machine Age -- Lou Glazer, President of Michigan Future, Inc. If your family needed to find your medical records, could they do it in an emergency? How about your financial records? If not, let members of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants show you how to skip that stress by creating a financial scrapbook. MICPA is offering a series of statewide presentations on financial scrapbooking during April. A financial scrapbook provides a single location for all-important records, such as insurance policies, retirement accounts, investments and other financial documents. Done well, a financial scrapbook offers comprehensive insights into a person’s financial situation and is a launching pad for future planning, emergency preparedness or end-of-life arrangements. These classes leverage MICPA’s financial expertise and are free to the public. They give attendees the tools to translate complex information into a concrete and concise snapshot of their financial affairs. It is important to have a clear understanding of personal finances, and financial scrapbooking is designed to address common issues, prepare for potential problems and identify resources. Session is led by Amber K. Gray, CPA and assistant professor at Adrian College
