This presentation is taking place on the 50th anniversary of the My Lai Massacre and the 53rd anniversary of the self-immolation of the Detroit-based antiwar activist Alice Herz. The power point lecture will highlight how the Vietnam War is remembered and evoked through key moments and images drawn from history. In addition, it will consider the "lessons" of the Vietnam War and the ways that the tragedies of the past keep haunting us in the present and how we can confront and remedy them.
